Designed as a coastal summer retreat in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, this project reconfigured and expanded a private residence to better host a large family. The original layout suffered from an isolated kitchen and an undersised dining area, severely constraining spatial flow during holiday gatherings.

The design demolished the outdated kitchen to create a generous, light-filled kitchen and dining pavilion. Set back subtly from the original house to respect its primary facade, the new extension allowed the vacated interior rooms to be repurposed into additional living space.

Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), a Conservation Area, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), the project faced strict environmental and heritage restrictions - compounded by a prior planning refusal from a previous practice. Through 3D Virtual Reality (VR) modeling and high-fidelity CGIs, we clearly demonstrated the proposal's contextual sensitivity to the Local Planning Authority, securing first-time planning permission without delay.
