Our Clients purchased a detached 1970s property with the intention to fully refurbish and extend the property to make it their own.

The property comprised of a series of dark, poorly connected rooms that did not maximise the property's best feature, the view out over the meadows of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural beauty. Additionally the property did not have enough bedrooms or bathrooms to suit the growing family and the EPC rating for the building was incredibly low.

The proposal involved three main moves, removing all the internal walls of the ground floor, taking away the rear conservatory that was blocking the views over the meadows and inserting a new double storey side extension to the side of the property.

Opening up the ground floor created a large bright family, living, dining space that could house the whole family and created a better connection to the raised rear terrace. The extension created a new separate snug and utility on the ground floor and a new master bedroom ensuite on the first floor.

The external fabric of the building was completely upgraded to improve thermal performance and mechanical heat recovery was installed, which also improves the thermal performance of the building, but also filters out pollution and crucially in this area pollen. Filtering out the pollen helps reduce allergies and creates a healthier living environment.
